[He'd drove all night, habitually remembering to drink from the cold flask of cheap coffee he'd picked up from a diner and even more habitually to chew on aspirin. He had to keep the pain in his arm at bay, occasionally it would spasm causing him to jerk the wheel to one side. His eyes were aching, and either that was because of the exhaustion or the emotions which were rattling around in his head, both of which weren't things he was able to take care of right then.

He'd eventually caved in and put on the radio, listening to some random popular music station so he wasn't left with just his own thoughts. He didn't exactly enjoy the music but it was better than utter silence, every now and again he'd press a wad of napkins against his temple, which had crusted over but wasn't entirely finished bleeding yet.

Finally reaching the town he'd left Owen in earlier that day, or actually the day before considering it was now five in the morning, he could've simply ran but he'd either end up running into a wall or phasing half way through one and winding up dead.

He parked the car in the same car park he'd left the BMW and transfers the chest from one trunk to the other, after all he'd rather ditch Al's car for the stolen motor, regardless of the convenience of having a car with actual insurance papers.

Finally he drags himself into the corridors of the hotel, it seeming deadly quiet for the fact it was so early, he vaguely remembers Owen's room number having only seen it once before and slumps against the doorframe, tapping lightly on it and hoping Owen would hear.]

Owen? 's me... I mean, Five, y'there?

[He smirks.]

Oh? I thought we weren't gettin' drunk. Y'changed your mind pretty quick.

Two martinis are not going to make me drunk. You have a lot to learn about me yet, obviously.

Well considerin' we've known each other for a grand total of two 'n a half days you'd be pretty one-dimensional if I'd learned everything.

Maybe I'm just an open book.

[He isn't. Or if he is, it's a very long one. Probably written in Aramaic.]

Somehow I doubt that. We've already decided you've got all kinds of nasties behind that sexy visage.

[Owen will resolutely not comment, just go and fetch them two more martinis, returning a moment later.]

I'm concerned I'm going to disappoint you, now.

Maybe y'will, that'd be an interestin' turn of events.

Maybe. But it bodes well to think you don't mind disappointment.

[He waves his hand.]

'm used to it. You're only human.

You are so going to pay for that later.

Pay for what?

[PARAGON OF INNOCENCE.]

Being a smartarse. A racist smartarse. I'm clearly very offended, as you can tell.

I think its specist, not racist... [Totally helping with the smartarse front.] 'n don't worry. I don't fault you for it...

[He drops his voice a little and leans in.] I don't care what species you are. You're still a git.

'm not tryin' t'be a git. Promise.

[Trying to look earnest.]

I suspect that like a great many things, it comes naturally to you.

What can I say? 'm a man of many talents.

[He checks the time.] We should probably get going, it'd be a huge let down t'just miss the plane now.

I even believe you.

...Good point. [And Owen will grab his jacket and his little case.] Ready for the indignities of security?

Thought I said I loved security. I'm hopin' for a monster who never learnt the meanin' of the word gentle.

[He grins, sliding out of the booth and picking up his own case.]

I was praying for sarcasm.

[He's only partly teasing; Owen really, really hates this part.]

Oh, no. 'm not much sarcastic, I just say things in an interestin' way.

[He hated security himself, but hey. Small pleasures.]

Really.

[Witness Owen's little sad sigh as they join the queue. At least it isn't long?]

[Five is all smiles, he can be patient when needs be.]

Calm down, it'll be done soon.

[Fun fact: queues and forced molestation are near the top of Owen's Least Favourite Things list.]

[He puts his bag onto the belt, takes off his shoes and walks through. The metal detector goes off regardless and he groans as a random man pulls him away so he can use the magic wand detector. Revealing it was just some random change Jason had forgotten about considering he'd already thrown his wallet down. He gives Owen a salacious wink over the top of the guy's head, even though the frisking was not at all enjoyable.]
