[He'd drove all night, habitually remembering to drink from the cold flask of cheap coffee he'd picked up from a diner and even more habitually to chew on aspirin. He had to keep the pain in his arm at bay, occasionally it would spasm causing him to jerk the wheel to one side. His eyes were aching, and either that was because of the exhaustion or the emotions which were rattling around in his head, both of which weren't things he was able to take care of right then.

He'd eventually caved in and put on the radio, listening to some random popular music station so he wasn't left with just his own thoughts. He didn't exactly enjoy the music but it was better than utter silence, every now and again he'd press a wad of napkins against his temple, which had crusted over but wasn't entirely finished bleeding yet.

Finally reaching the town he'd left Owen in earlier that day, or actually the day before considering it was now five in the morning, he could've simply ran but he'd either end up running into a wall or phasing half way through one and winding up dead.

He parked the car in the same car park he'd left the BMW and transfers the chest from one trunk to the other, after all he'd rather ditch Al's car for the stolen motor, regardless of the convenience of having a car with actual insurance papers.

Finally he drags himself into the corridors of the hotel, it seeming deadly quiet for the fact it was so early, he vaguely remembers Owen's room number having only seen it once before and slumps against the doorframe, tapping lightly on it and hoping Owen would hear.]

Owen? 's me... I mean, Five, y'there?

Good, because I think we might have trouble getting that past security. [Smirk.] Besides, I have manacles at home. [THEY'RE FOR WORK, OKAY. Everyone ins Jossverse seems to own a set.]

Ah. Well, I found a drugstore last night, so we can go there-- it should have everything you're after.

Okay, we'll just.. uh.. [Polite cough.] Yeah we'll uh, talk about that one later.

[He nods.] That'll work. I wonder if they have those little eye masks...

Okay. [Jason gets a sweet smile which is covering Owen's urge to laugh like an old-movie villain. He'll let Jason stew over that one for a while before telling him the truth; it's payback for his little stunt with the footsie earlier.]

They'll give us those on the plane.

Oh? Awesome, I can't sleep if I think someone's watchin' me, so I'll probably knock some Valium or somethin'. No takin' advantage.

[Really, he probably wouldn't as that might lead to him being caught off guard, but the thought of a drug induced sleep seemed oddly tantalising.]

I don't like it either, but time spent in a shared room in boarding school and in a tent with mum before that sort of trained me out of it.

Somehow I'll manage to rein in my filthy urges. Although I'm sure it will be hard. I've always wanted to have sex on an airplane.

Worse than that-- you'd be in hot water for your freaky powers. Mine probably wouldn't save me fast enough, so I'd just be in hospital. You'd be all over the news.

[He smiles slightly, turning away.]

I do? [He nods.] That's, it's good to know.

[He crosses into the drugstore and busies himself with the things he needs. He didn't exactly know what to make of Owen's comment 'nor did he want to ask as that would make for a very awkward plane journey.]

[It's one of those comments that periodically make it past Owen's otherwise very tight verbal filter. It remains true, however, although Owen wouldn't want (or, indeed, be able) to elaborate on it any further or explain in what sense he had meant it.]




...What sort of magazines did you have in mind? And they better not be anything filthy, or you'll get kicked back to coach.

I was thinkin' more like GQ, Vanity Fair.. nothin' top shelf.

[He rolls his eyes. Obviously he isn't about to pull out skin mags with Owen sitting pretty right beside him, he didn't need to.]

How disappointing. And there I was, thinking I might gain more valuable insight into the workings of that perverted mind of yours; that whole superhero thing was very interesting, but I'm sure there's more.

[...Though he'd be flattered if he knew the rationale.]

[He smirks.] There's all kinds o' things. Maybe I'll jus' wait and start springin' them on you further up the road.

[He picks up a couple of the very mundane magazines and drops them into a basket. He then gets a small bottle of aspirin, a bottle of vitamin water for while they were waiting in departures and finally goes to check the prescriptions they have on their standard reading glasses before finding a pair that'll work for him.] Done! Oh, wait, one second. [He remembers to get a small pack of cigarettes which he'd probably smoke all between the hotel and the airport, damned no smoking laws.]

[Owen wanders around and ends up buying... Nothing. He'll get water and mints once they go through security (maybe peanut-butter M&Ms if he's feeling adventurous), but his bag is full of books already. He notes Jason's basket with interest and flashes him a grin.]

We'll get you some of those electronic smokes in the airport, they always have them. That should satisfy your apparent oral fixation for a few hours.
